It’s Five Minute Friday time, where I gather with Kate and many other women to write freely, for five minutes only, all on a common prompt. Kate’s blog has all the details and the link up, but for now, it’s time to write.
Today’s prompt is: Blue
The cerulean sky seems to stretch endlessly, such an intense blue it nearly leaves me gasping. Contrasting against the emerald green grass and bright, bushy trees, the landscape rolls out in front of me. It’s as if the contrast in a photograph had been cranked up high, and yet it is real life.
Spring never ceases to amaze me. And though now we’re on the borderline of summer, I’m still shocked by the intense colors. Even in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa, the rich blue of the sky would fill me with wonder. Stretching amazingly from one end of the desert horizon to the other, it felt as if the heavens were opened.
There’s something miraculous in a bright blue spring sky. It’s easy to see the hand of the Creator as winter falls away and spring creeps in with tendrils of life, bringing color, noise, and brightness to our lives. Ruby-throat
Spring reminds me of renewal. Of a promise of redemption and building up again. Of thawing out and warming up. Bringing new life and seeing changes happen slowly, but steadily, eventually shocking us with transformation.
And when I see the brilliant cerulean blue sky, or the many hues of a quiet sunrise, I’m reminded that as it goes in nature, so God can make happen in my soul.
