A few years ago, back when I was living in South Africa, I started longing for a church community. Because of where I lived, it wasn’t really possible. There were churches, but they didn’t offer what I was longing for: a close knit Bible study community. So I began to look forward to returning to the USA, knowing I could find a church and a good Bible study group eventually, even if it was a long way off.
And then I came across Hello Mornings. It’s an online, social media based challenge uses small “accountability groups” to get women in the word each day.
So I found my Bible study group.
I began doing the 6-12 week challenges, both on Facebook and Twitter, and started communicating with women around the world who also wanted to stay in the Word each day. We would get up and set aside study time first thing in the morning, then check in (thus the accountability part). We would discuss the day’s reading, offer prayer requests, and share things going on in our lives.
Because there were people studying with me, expecting me to get up and get in the word, I would inevitably get up and get in the Word.
I’ve been doing Hello Mornings for a couple of years now, and I’ve been part of a handful of groups. This last challenge, I stepped up with a friend to lead one, which was a whole new level of scary. 🙂 But it was a blast!
And now, we are starting a new challenge. It’s an Advent challenge, which will run 4 weeks. Because it’s a crazy time of the year, there won’t be the normal group recruitment, daily check in, and discussion time. But we’ll still be around to support one another.
Interested in joining in? You can buy the Advent Power Pack, which includes a gorgeous eBook, Then Came Jesus. It includes a few other things as well, and is definitely worth the $5. And it’s a great way to challenge yourself to stay in the Word during the holiday season.

How easy it is to get caught up in the celebration and lose sight of the reason?
So I challenge you to embrace Jesus this season, and make an intentional effort to study Advent in a new way. And in January, if you liked the Then Came Jesus study, you can join up with a Hello Mornings accountability group and work on starting your day with Jesus.
So what do you say? Ready to take on an Advent challenge? Click here to purchase the Power Pack and get started!
