This is Freedom

It’s often spoken of in churches: we find freedom in Christ. But what does that really look like?

freedom

Some people find religion to be constrictive: rules to follow and expectations to meet. And yes, I supposed religion is. But a relationship with a living God isn’t.

Through salvation, we find freedom from the burden of our sins. Maybe your sins have clung to you for year, weighing you down and making each day more difficult than the one before. By allowing God’s grace in an immersing yourself in the unconditional love of Jesus, there is freedom.

Freedom from sin.

From guilt.

From the “what ifs” and uncertainties in life.

From apprehension and fear of death.

From feeling unloved.

From the expectations.

From all the hurt and pain you carry.

From each and every one of your burdens.

There is freedom in Christ, friends. Freedom to live life fulfilled and chase your incredible God-Sized Dream.  <-Click to Tweet!

There is freedom of choice too. This is a dangerous one, friends. Because it’s so easy to slip into the ways of the world again. Each day we have to choose if we are following God, of if we aren’t. Each and every day. We have the freedom to choose to sin. And we have to freedom to resist the many temptations and cling to Jesus.

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13

Most importantly, we have the freedom to share God’s love.

We can hide our lights away, or we can let them shine brightly, sharing His love with everyone around us.  <-Click to Tweet!

And when we choose this path, incredible things can happen.

  1. This is such a great post and a much needed reminder for today. I love the point that you made that the freedom to choose can be dangerous. Well-written and choc full of truth! I’m glad I found you here!

  2. You make such great points here! We have freedom in Christ – freedom from sin and guilt, but also freedom of choice, which can lead us away from God if we’re not careful. I spent so many years as a Christian still enslaved by guilt and, in many cases, it led me to make choices that took me further from God. Great post!

Thank you for visiting Alissa’s Life Under Construction today! 🙂

  3. Love your definitions of freedom! How grateful I am to be a captive set free by the miraculous healing of Christ. Thanks for sharing this with Testimony Tuesday, Jen.
