“But He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The punishment that brought us peace was on Him,
And by His wounds we are healed.”
-Isaiah 53:5
On this Easter weekend, full of beautiful weather and promises of delicious food, it’s easy to get lots amid the endless pastels and the ever-present Peeps. But Easter isn’t about about a new dress and bonnet, or a basket full of chocolate-filled goodness. It’s not about a succulent ham or brightly colored eggs hidden in the newly sprouted grass.
It’s about a man, and a God whose love for us knows no bounds. It’s about a death, and life. It’s about the Son of God who was pierced for my transgressions. For yours. Mine alone are uncountable, and yet He died to save me. And friend, He died to save you.
This video popped up as a YouTube advertisement, and I found myself nearly in tears at my desk at work.
“Because of Him, death has no sting; the grave has no victory.”
Praise God.
